Junior Checklist
- Register for and take the PSAT and/or the PLAN which is given in October.
- Start researching colleges and consider all the types of colleges.
- Attend college fairs.
- Start a college application file. Keep all your papers organized and at your fingertips.
- Explore careers and their earning potentials in the Occupational Outlook Handbook.
- Start researching federal and New York State grants and scholarships to learn what you may qualify for and how to get financial aid.
- Register for and take the SAT and SAT Subject Tests or the ACT.
- Register for your FSA ID
- Attend a financial aid workshop or seminar.
- Prepare for NYS Regents exams with Regents Review 2.0.
- Decide which standardized test you will take and how to best prepare.
- Most colleges require you to take at least one.
- Find out about college-prep summer programs and explore opportunities for summer internships.
- Review your senior class year schedule with your guidance counselor.
- Narrow down your college list.
