HESC would like to update our partners with information regarding eligibility for part-time TAP and regulation changes to the deferment of the declaration of a major by matriculated students for NYS Financial Aid.
Part-time TAP
- Students who enroll full time (12 credits or more) for a semester but only 6-11 credits (3-11 for ADA students) are in their program of study may be eligible to receive a part-time TAP award. Schools should certify the student with the applicable tuition for the credits allowable for TAP. Schools should NOT use the full-time tuition rate for certification.
- Students who fall into this population will need to comply with the Part-time TAP 2.0 GPA requirement.
Regulation changes to declaration of a major for NYS financial aid.
Please see the memo regarding regulation changes to the deferment of the declaration of a major by matriculated students for TAP financial aid.
