Definitions of budgets to be used in calculating the Annual Educational Expenses:
- Resident Student (Budget Type 2)
A student who lives in institutionally controlled housing. - Off-Campus Student (Budget Type 4) (Same housing allowance as Budget Type 2)
A student who does not live in institutionally controlled housing and does not live with his/her parents, or in a building owned or rented by them. - Commuter Student (Budget Types 1 and 3)
A student who does not meet the definition of an off-campus student and is living with parents.
The scholarship awards listed above will be equal to the applicant’s actual tuition and mandatory fees, or the State University of New York (SUNY) average undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees, whichever is less. The chart should be used when estimating awards for SUNY average tuition and mandatory fee amounts for the 2026-27 academic year. Students attending institutions with tuition charges higher than the SUNY tuition charges may, if eligible, receive additional assistance through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).

For the 2026-27 academic year, the award is up to SUNY average tuition rate of $7,070 or actual tuition, whichever is less. Awards will be reduced by any TAP award for STEM.
