UFT and HESC to Host Hispanic Heritage Month Assembly

The United Federation of Teachers, in collaboration with the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC), will conduct a Hispanic Heritage Assembly at the Walton Education Campus to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Dr. Guillermo Linares, President of HESC, will deliver the keynote address, sharing his inspiring journey as a member of the Dominican community and his 50-year career in public service. Dr. Linares will highlight how education has been a cornerstone of his personal and professional trajectory, underscoring the transformative power of higher education, particularly for those from underserved backgrounds and first-generation college students.
During the event, HESC will share valuable information about New York State’s College Application Month campaign and pathways to apply for state financial aid, ensuring students are equipped with the tools they need to achieve their higher education goals.

HESC is New York State’s student financial aid agency and a national leader in providing need-based grant and scholarship award money to college-going students.
